The interclub 2010 was an absolute blast!
Attendees were in excess 0f 400, who were in for a real treat, Wow what can I say!
Three mat areas & the competitions them selves judged by Conor Coady (Under 21 England Captain). The day kicked of with training for juniors on the main mat area which showcased a variety of wrist lock & take downs, sensei Stuart Swalwell (Host) really went to town on these lock demonstrating those nice little tweaks. Sensei Rick Lane showcased a variety throws with lock & really honed the locks for maximum effectiveness.
The phrase "Can I see that again sensei" has really gone to a new level as I'm not sure if the juniors really didn't see everything or they just wanted to see the two uki's (Ian & Phil) grimacing under each of the locks. Well done guys!
On the two senior mats (a first for interclub competition), Sensei John Waddie took all the seniors for the Inter-Club seminar, which showcased advanced blocks, takedowns & locks while sensei Nicola Wynne took the women's self defence class for none students!
IT JUST GETS BETTER!
After a short butt welcome break the hosts, Orrell Ju Jitsu, hit the mat with their demonstration followed by Formby, Apply Bridge, St Helens, Southport & Ashton in Makerfield.
Sensei Garry Phillips proclaimed "All the displays were extremely good & so very close; the level of technicalities was fantastic!" However there can be only one.
Oh yes!!! While the points were being counted, wait for it…. We were treated to two more displays, Uki of the year, Tia O'Mara from Aigburth, and Jack Bytheway from Orrell. Technical Ability awards went to Nathan Swalwell & Jonny Yates both from Orrell.
Finally Sensei Garry announced this year's winners & runners up!
1st Place went to Ashton - YMCA, 2nd Place went to Orrell & 3rd place went to Southport.
